The CLEAR-PC project holds its kick-off meeting

On 14-15 October 2025, Miguel Hernández University (UMH) in Spain hosted the kick-off meeting of CLEAR-PC (Cancer Literacy Education and Awareness Resources for Prostate Care), a European project funded by the EU4Health Programme of the European Commission.

The project aims to improve prostate cancer prevention and care by strengthening health literacy and shared decision-making among men at risk, patients, vulnerable populations, healthcare professionals, healthcare organisations and policymakers.

The two-day meeting officially marked the beginning of the project. It provided an opportunity for partners to meet in person for the first time, align the project’s objectives, define tasks and responsibilities of each partner, and establish the next steps for implementation.

The CLEAR-PC consortium includes representatives from a wide range of institutions and organisations, bringing together expertise in public health, healthcare, research, education, psychology, patient advocacy and health policy. The participating organisations are Miguel Hernández University (the project coordinator), the University of Murcia, Canary Islands Health Service, Canary Islands Health Research Institute Foundation, Foundation for the Promotion of Applied Scientific Research and Technology in Asturias, Regional Ministry of Health in Asturias, Health Service of Asturias, Ordem dos Psicólogos Portugueses, Public Open University Čakovec, Thomas More University College, Erasmus University Medical Center, Center for Social Innovation, FEFOC Fundació, Europa Uomo, Spanish Society of Family and Community Medicine, ISABIAL, and FISABIO.

The kick-off meeting was also attended by Ioanna Avgerinou, Project Officer at the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) of the European Commission. During her intervention, she presented the mission of the agency and provided partners with guidance on the implementation of projects funded through the EU4Health Programme.

Over the course of the project, which will run until 2028, CLEAR-PC will design, develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to strengthen prostate cancer literacy and support informed, shared decision-making across Europe.

The project will focus on developing practical resources and strategies that can help people better understand prostate cancer prevention and care, while also supporting healthcare professionals and organisations in communicating evidence-based information effectively.
